If ever there were a time for Henry David Thoreau, it is now. Even at the beginning of the industrial revolution, he could see where it would take us. Although industry was meant to improve the quality of life for more people, in the wrong hands it has only made our lives worse to the point of extinguishing ourselves and the rest of the planet with us. I suppose it's never too late to learn. Henry David Thoreau's Walden has much to teach.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately. To front only the essential facts of life and see if I could not learn what it had to teach and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
